Wow I can't believe it's Friday already! These last few weeks off are going to fly by.. sadly.. :-(
Last Sunday was a big day for us. We went to church for the first time and went up for communion. Pastor gave Nian a blessing but honestly I was tearing up and wiping my eyes so I didn't really hear much of it. It was GREAT to be back in church and see everyone. I know so many people were anxious to see him. We also had dinner with Uncle Brian, Aunt Brenda, and Cousin Evan. We had a great time playing and visiting. It was a really good day.
Nian also came out of his room on his own after his nap on Sunday and each day since. He has also started coming down the hall into our room when he wakes up at night. Next step.... come get into our bed and go back to sleep. Most nights I can rock him back to sleep but boy these last 2 have been rough..
Nian started trying out different squeeze foods as he'll have to eat purred food after his palate surgery. He found 7 of them the other day that he didn't like at all..... I'm so glad they are cheap. HAHAHAHA they need to make little "tester" sizes. Nian is not use to eating "baby" food so any flavor we can get that he'll eat works for me. Thank God he likes a local store brand which is the cheapest ones around. I will also work on making my own as he tends to like the fruit/sweet ones.
Speaking of those types of foods, (I can't remember what they call them.) We were getting more today at the store and he wanted one right then and there. He's starting to point to his open mouth when he's hungry. It's really pretty cute.
Wednesday we met Nian's "adopted" grandma Nonna for lunch. It's been so long since I've seen Nonna. We use to work together and walk everyday during lunch, and when she retired we'd do lunch once a week if possible. I was blessed to have lunch with her the week before we left for China and again when she welcomed us home at the airport. Nian was really good sitting at the table while we visited after eating. Please send a prayer out for Nonna as she is dealing with a lost loved one.
Thursday was Grandpa's birthday. We went over for dinner and Nian was able to spend some time with his 2nd Uncle Pat. Their 1st time together since our arrival home at the airport. He even gave him a hug goodbye. He's so full of love!
This boy.. How does a parent keep a straight face sometimes? Here we are watching TV, relaxing with a bottle and he hears Joe's candy wrapper. He was in such a hurry to get to him he tripped over his own feet. Omgosh it was too funny. Seriously if you were here you'd have laughed too. He's totally fine and laughing about it too so we're all good. He does the funniest things sometimes.
We hope to start working with daycare in the next few weeks to get him use to the workers and house. What a big adjustment for all of us. If he stays on his currently schedule I will already be at work by time he wakes up.
We are getting out for more walks now that the snow is gone and the sun is shining. We are looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home and doing some work around here. And we'll be looking for my jade earring, hoping it's in the house.
While we are still cocooning as much as we can we are also more mobile. If you see us out and about please feel free to come say hello. We only ask that you not "crowd" Nian when you get close to us. He likes to see/meet new people, he just doesn't want them in "his" personal space. We're still getting use to new people, while still keeping his "stranger danger" awareness. If that makes sense.
