GOTCHA DAY

We have our boy!!!  I can't share his name yet as we haven't had a chance to chat with Papa, Mimi, Grandpa, and Grandma..  Will share soon!!!

Our day started early with a relaxing time before heading down to breakfast.  Nian LOVED the congee, which means I better figure out how to make it when we get home, and the pancakes.  He ate about 3 of them.

We met our group on the lobby at 9:30 am and headed over to the civil service office, which is much nicer than the last location we had with Nian.  Lots more seating and more play items. And of course, like much of China right now HOT inside..  

We waited maybe 45 minutes before little brother arrived. And he promptly put the breaks on and backed away.  We knew he would probably be quieter than Nian since Nian is so busy. They say your child will either cry or will be quiet.  Nian was quiet, and did his grieving at night...  like every hour he was up screaming. Well if that is any indication of how our night will go it'll be pretty quiet because little brother was crying and screaming until about 2 minutes before we left to head back to the hotel.

He finally fell asleep then promptly woke up once Joe tried to put him in the crib.  No more fussing since then and he even laughed a few times. He is bonding good with Joe and ok with me. I'm good with them bonding more now since Joe will return to work when we get home, I'll be off for another few months.

We completed some additional paperwork after a few hours, and are currently hanging out in our room.  We'll head over to the store to get him some new shoes, and hopefully get him in the tub later, or at least into some pj's.  He has yet to let us take his large sweatshirt off him.  We did just take his shoes off and they are a bit big.  As you can see from the pictures he's in pink.  Gender specific cloths aren't an issue in the orphanage. They will dress the kids in whatever cloths they have so boys may end up in pink flowers and girls may end up in blue dinosaurs. Cloths are cloths.

He's enjoying the toys and snacks we have so we are grateful for the progress. He has also fed all of us, and allowed us to feed him. Big step there towards trust..  

Nian is doing a GREAT job so far by being patient and sharing. He is such a great big brother.  

We are praying the rest of our night go smoothly.  We have more paperwork tomorrow at the notary office, and we will also go apply his passport.  We will also get train tickets to visit the orphanage later this week. We are looking forward to that and hope he does well and this will bring him closure. 

Thanks for all the prayers, love, and support. We felt them today.   We will certainly need them all as we continue our time here in China as well as at home.
