4 months ago today

Four months ago today, we woke in a foreign country, in a new city, with a life changing event in front of us.  I don't remember if we went down for breakfast, what time we got up, or what we discussed.  I know we met the rest of our group in the lobby at 930am.  We all stood around chatting awaiting our guides queue to get on the bus and take a short ride to the civil service office.  We were all pretty upbeat, and ready to go.

 Upon arrival at the CSO we chatted nervously with each other, and some of the other families who were meeting their children too.  A few of the children were already united with their parents when we arrived.  We all found a space in the room to call our own and settle in for the arrivals.  The wait was long and at one point I remember telling Joe "I'm heading to the bathroom, maybe it'll be like the restaurant and he'll be here after I get back!".  lol that didn't happen but it did kill some time.

  Our tight little group slowing started being untied with our children.  We cried and celebrated each others big moment.  My biggest fear was that I wouldn't recognize Nian when he got there.  I really wasn't paying attention, we were chatting with another couple in our group who where 1st time parents. And then he was there, standing in the doorway with a lost look on his face wondering (I'm sure) what in the world is going on and who are all these strange people.

It didn't take too long before we started to get a few smiles out of this precious little boy. And that was the start of this wonderful journey we are on.  When we got back to the hotel and walked into our room I remember asking Joe, "what do we do now?" It's like all those years of being around a niece and all the nephews went out the window and I had no clue what to do with this child of ours.  He looked at us as if to ask the same question.  We quickly started working on bonding, eating, drinking, and play.  We learned right away that we had one smart little boy.  He even lead Joe to the bathroom so he could go potty. 

Fast forward 4 months...  It's amazing the changes this beautiful boy has gone through and how far he has come.  Each day we learn more, bond more, trust more, and LOVE more.  Such big changes for our little guy and us over these past 4 fantastic months.  We love this journey we are on and can't wait to see where each day takes us. 

Thank you for all the support, prayers and love you have given us during this journey.  We continue to pray for each other to find patience, understanding, and comfort.  He's come a long way in such a short time.  We still have a ways to go but know we can get through it all. We thank God for this wonderful blessing of a boy he's entrusted us with.
