We were off to China 2 years ago today!

Hard to believe that exactly 2 years ago on this date we were on a Delta flight out of Detroit heading to Beijing with Nian, Caleb and Even to bring Cheng home......   Where has the time gone?  Did want to overload you with more time travel so i'll just be posting here and there over the next few weeks as we get reminisce about our trip.

Reading the blog from Feb 23 2017 sure brings back memories of the flight over. Losing my emerald stone out of my engagement ring, Nian spilling pop 1 hour into the flight, barely sleeping, Oh and  the crabby lady in front of us. 😒 Oh well at least she was the only one to complain. Can't wait to see what happens on the next flight over. 😆 We are super excited to be starting this process again.

Nian had his first school concert on the 14th.  We weren't sure how that would go since he's not a big singer in front of a crowd.  oh he likes to sing and we love to hear it, he actually does it often at home and in the car, but not in front of people.....  He did GREAT!!!!  There was 1 song he didn't like so there he stood, which is normal for both my boys..  So proud of him,  he's coming out of his shell more and more with these types of things.

Oh Apple song you were not popular that night!
The next day was his Valentine party at school.  His class had pancakes for breakfast and then got to spend the morning sledding. They had so much fun.  There was even a little bonfire with hot cocoa for them to enjoy. This mom wasn't allowed to go down the hill with her son, 😮 the stinker,💩 but that's ok he was at school.  I'm so glad I took the day off to be with him.

Saturday the Sisters 4 spentd the day together doing the Lowell Chocolate stroll.  Of course we stopped at the awesome thrift store first.  Wow they have a ton of bargains there, got the boys some costumes for $4-$5.  Lunch was good too at Sneakers. My oldest sister Brenda (she's right behind me in the pic below) won a gift certificate to Ability Weavers, which she'd been saying we should all go do for a few years now.  So we booked a date for this summer and we'll head back to weave a rug.  Can't wait. 😄

Practically brand new

Cheng had his party earlier in the week.  The kids had a great time.  We brought a craft and a game. Bingo wasn't as popular this time as it was at Christmas. We also had his conferences which helps us to know what we need to work on.

Sunday our social worker came over to do Cheng's 2 year post adoption report.  We were also  informed that the State of MI changed some rules that require home studies to be completed within 90 days from their start date. YIKES. 😲 Wasn't expecting to get it done that fast.  I mean I knew we'd get it done, but didn't want to feel too rushed...  😕

Monday we were finally able to connect with a friend of Nian's for a play date.  We headed to the library, hadn't thought of that one and it's been years since I was last there...  but it was a ton of fun, I was able to get to know the mom better, AND bonus he has a little brother to hang out and play with Cheng.  All four boys had a ton of fun.  Can't wait for our next get together!  I was so thankful for this extra time for Nian to have with a friend from school.  They two boys get a long really good.

This weekend we finally have some down time.  It's nice to not have plans for a change and be able to relax a bit. and update the blog, and start some paperwork, and get some laundry done, and do nothing... lol..

Thanks for following our journey and sharing the crazy rides we've had the last four years.  We hope you will continue to pray for us as we start our journey again. Much to be done in the next 90 days.  Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Blessings to you!
Becky
